The professor came to us with an idea. His wild eyebrows and shocks of white hair made us skeptical, but he possessed an enthusiasm that made us hear him out. “What if we’ve been thinking about time all wrong?” he asked. “What if, instead of going round in circles, we could do it in half the time and space?”

We asked the professor to build us a prototype.

The result was the Stauer Quantum Leap Watch, a retro-future work of art that challenges the way we think about timepieces. The Quantum Leap uses an ingenious system of short and long hands to tell time in an all-new way that requires only the top half of the watch face. The mind-bending design is inspired by pressure gauge style dials from 19th century steam powered machinery.
