However, it was in 1777 when a watchmaker in Europe, renowned for his work at Versailles, created a legendary leap in timekeeping. He invented the first automatic mechanical watch movement that required neither batteries nor manual winding. Of the seven watches ever made, only one masterpiece has survived, now residing in a museum.

Inspired by this historical marvel, the Stauer 1777 pays homage to the pioneering spirit of automatic watchmaking.
