Description
Since ancient times, mankind has sought creative ways to mark the passage of time, from sundials to hourglasses, and even the Great Pyramids. However, it was in 1777 when a watchmaker in Europe, renowned for his work at Versailles, created a legendary leap in timekeeping. He invented the first automatic mechanical watch movement that required neither batteries nor manual winding. Of the seven watches ever made, only one masterpiece has survived, now residing in a museum.
Inspired by this historical marvel, the Stauer 1777 pays homage to the pioneering spirit of automatic watchmaking. Powered by a 22-jeweled movement that beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour, this watch offers precision accurate to the second. The craftsmanship doesn’t end with mechanics. The escapement and balance wheel are visible through the crystal, and the exhibition back lets you witness the rotor’s seamless function as it winds with the flick of your wrist.
Visually stunning, this watch boasts a shimmering black mother-of-pearl face, complemented by gold-finished stainless steel. It features subdials for a 120-second timer and a Sun/Moon display, offering both function and elegance. The Stauer 1777 is not just a timekeeper, but a celebration of horological mastery.
